Piezoelectric ceramic sheets are made from a special synthetic ceramic material called lead zirconate (gao) titanate or lead niobium (ni) magnesium oxide. Most common piezoelectric ceramic sheets are made into very thin circular plates as shown in Figure 23-1, with one side sintered on a circular thin brass (or stainless steel) substrate with good elasticity, and the other side coated with a thin layer of silver. The metal substrate and silver plating layer are the two electrodes of the piezoelectric ceramic sheet.
